Main Public Reading Library of Adrar
Introduction
The Main Public Reading Library was established in the municipality of Adrar, capital of Adrar Province, on July 26, 2008. It is located on Mohamed El-Atchane Street, opposite the Foggara Exhibition in Adrar city. Its missions were defined in Decree No. 12-234 as follows:
- Making various documentary collections and services related to public reading and all other attached services available to users.
- Allocating a reading space that adapts to children's needs
- Providing a space for studies and exam preparation
- Facilitating the development of basic competencies for using media and information technology.
- Providing means that allow people with disabilities to access public reading.
- Organizing cultural activities around books

Executive Decree No. 08/236 dated 23 Rajab 1429 corresponding to July 26, 2008
Executive Decree No. 12-234 dated 3 Rajab 1433 corresponding to May 24, 2012 amended its name to the Main Public Reading Library.
Library Goals and Missions
The Main Public Reading Library of adrar is responsible for providing books on various supports to promote and encourage public reading
Making various documentary collections and services related to public reading and all other attached services available to users.
Allocating a space for public reading that adapts to children's needs.
Providing a space for studies and exam preparation.
Facilitating the development of basic competencies for using information technology.
Providing means that allow people with disabilities to access public reading.
Organizing cultural activities around books.
Making all available information sources available to all who wish to access them.
Providing free search capabilities and services to help individuals expand their knowledge and achievements according to their needs, interests, desires, and abilities.
Helping achieve school education goals, as the library works to deepen the student's horizons and understanding of their study subjects.
Encouraging and supporting readership among citizens by providing services and books that satisfy various needs and tastes.
Providing readers with the necessary information to update their work in their jobs in society and in managing their practical affairs.
